He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.


But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you be the Christ, the Son of God.


Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.


Then he questioned him with many words; but he answered him nothing.


Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover.


Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Are you the King of the Jews?


Jesus answered him, Say you this thing of yourself, or did others tell it to you of me?


Pilate therefore said unto him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.


Then said Pilate unto him, Speak you not unto me? know you not that I have power to crucify you, and have power to release you?


When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;


Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know from where I came, and where I go; but you cannot tell from where I come, and where I go.


And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that of God.


Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very awesome: but I asked him not from where he was, neither told he me his name:
