Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?


All your garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made you glad.


In my hearing said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.


Now the king sat in the winter house in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.


But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.


Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even all around the land; and he shall bring down your strength from you, and your palaces shall be plundered.


Since therefore you tread upon the poor, and you take from him burdens of wheat: you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink wine of them.


For, behold, the LORD commands, and he will strike the great house into pieces, and the little house into bits.


If Edom says, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD has indignation forever.
