For wrath kills the foolish man, and envy slays the simple one.


A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.


Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but which is able to stand before jealousy?


Again, I considered all toil, and every skillful work, that for this a man is envied by his neighbor. This is also vanity and grasping after the wind.


For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.


But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?


But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;


The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Do you see how you can do nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.


But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spoke against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.


But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, It is needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.


But the Jews who believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain wicked fellows of the rabble, and gathered a company, and set all the city in an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.


The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

Do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit that dwells in us lusts to envy?
