And it came to pass, when Yisrael dwelt in that land, that Reuven went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Yisrael heard it. Now the sons of Yaakov were twelve:
The sons of Leah; Reuven, Yaakov's firstborn, and Shimon, and Levi, and Yhudah, and Yissakhar, and Zvulun:
Now the sons of Reuven the firstborn of Yisrael, (for he was the firstborn; but forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Yosef the son of Yisrael: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
The sons, I say, of Reuven the firstborn of Yisrael were, Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Karmi.
These be the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuven the firstborn of Yisrael; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Karmi: these be the families of Reuven.
And the children of Reuven, Yisrael's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
