For the Lord had made the army of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great army: and they said one to another, Behold, the king of Yisra'el has hired against us the kings of the Chitti, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come on us.


For the arrows of the Almighty are within me. My spirit drinks up their poison. The terrors of God set themselves in array against me.


He will not be afraid of evil news. His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.


Therefore we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas;


The wicked flee when no one pursues; but the righteous are as bold as a lion.


They all handle the sword, and are expert in war. Every man has his sword on his thigh, because of fear in the night.


My heart flutters. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling for me.


When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.


He said to them, *Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?* Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm.


*But God said to him, 'You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared--whose will they be?'


But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into.


So that with good courage we say, *The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What can man do to me?*
