Avraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, *Please put your hand under my thigh.


When he was departed there, he lighted on Yehonadav the son of Rechav coming to meet him; and he greeted him, and said to him, Is your heart right, as my heart is with your heart? Yehonadav answered, It is. If it be, give me your hand. He gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.


You went to the king with oil, and did increase your perfumes, and did send your ambassadors far off, and did debase yourself even to She'ol.


Now what have you to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shichor? or what have you to do in the way to Ashur, to drink the waters of the River?


Why go you about so much to change your way? you shall be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Ashur.


Shout against her round about: she has submitted herself; her bulwarks are fallen, her walls are thrown down; for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance on her; as she has done, do to her.


Our eyes do yet fail [in looking] for our vain help: In our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save.


For he has despised the oath by breaking the covenant; and behold, he had given his hand, and yet has done all these things; he shall not escape.


Efrayim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Ashur, and oil is carried into Egypt.


*When Efrayim saw his sickness, and Yehudah his wound, Then Efrayim went to Ashur, and sent to king Yarev: but he is not able to heal you, neither will he cure you of your wound.


*Efrayim is like an easily deceived dove, without understanding. They call to Egypt. They go to Ashur.


They won't dwell in the LORD's land; but Efrayim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Ashur.
