Yarov`am ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Yehudah, and he went up to the altar; so did he in Beit-El, sacrificing to the calves that he had made: and he placed in Beit-El the Kohanim of the high places that he had made.


For they also built them high places, and pillars, and Asherim, on every high hill, and under every green tree;


He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder.


*Let's break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us.*


For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.


All the people answered together, and said, *All that the LORD has spoken we will do.* Moshe reported the words of the people to the LORD.


Moshe came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, *All the words which the LORD has spoken will we do.*

Or has God tried to go and take him a nation from the midst of [another] nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?


Go you near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak you to us all that the LORD our God shall speak to you; and we will hear it, and do it.


They answered Yehoshua, saying, All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.


The people said to Yehoshua, the LORD our God will we serve, and to his voice will we listen.


Yehoshua wrote these words in the scroll of the Torah of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

The children of Yisra'el again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Ba`alim, and the `Ashtarot, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Tzidon, and the gods of Mo'av, and the gods of the children of `Ammon, and the gods of the Pelishtim; and they forsook the LORD, and didn't serve him.


The children of Yisra'el did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Ba`alim;


They forsook the LORD, and served Ba`al and the `Ashtarot.


They cried to the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served the Ba`alim and the `Ashtarot: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.
