Midyanim who were merchants passed by, and they drew and lifted up Yosef out of the pit, and sold Yosef to the Yishme`elim for twenty pieces of silver. They brought Yosef into Egypt.


He put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Yosef was bound.


The captain of the guard assigned them to Yosef, and he took care of them. They stayed in prison many days.


There was with us there a young man, a Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard, and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams. To each man according to his dream he interpreted.


Now in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nevukhadnetzar 1, king of Bavel, came Nevuzar'adan 1 the captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Bavel, to Yerushalayim.


On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Bizeta, Charvona, Bigta, and Avagta, Zetar, and Karkas, the seven eunuchs who served in the presence of Achashverosh the king,


He sent a man before them. Yosef was sold for a slave.
