He said, *Your name will no longer be called Ya`akov, but Yisra'el; for you have fought with God and with men, and have prevailed.*
God said to him, *Your name is Ya`akov. Your name shall not be Ya`akov any more, but your name will be Yisra'el.* He named him Yisra'el.
The mother of the child said, As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. He arose, and followed her.
Ya`betz called on the God of Yisra'el, saying, Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow! God granted him that which he requested.
Ya`akov fled into the country of Aram, and Yisra'el served to get a wife, and for a wife he tended flocks and herds.
