Now Moshe was keeping the flock of Yitro, his father-in-law, the Kohen of Midyan, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God's mountain, to Chorev.


All the people took off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aharon.


When the people heard this evil news, they mourned: and no one put on his jewelry.


The LORD said to Moshe, *Tell the children of Yisra'el, 'You are a stiff-necked people. If I were to go up into your midst for one moment, I would consume you. Therefore now take off your jewelry from you, that I may know what to do to you.'*


Now Moshe used to take the tent and to pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it *The tent of meeting.* It happened that everyone who sought the LORD went out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp.


Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backsliding shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and a bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord, the LORD of Armies.


The people of Nineveh believed God; and they proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
