David said to him, How went the matter? Please tell me. He answered, The people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Sha'ul and Yonatan his son are dead also.


Yehoshua said to `Akhan, My son, please give glory to the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; don't hide it from me.


The LORD called yet again, Shemu'el. Shemu'el arose and went to `Eli, and said, Here am I; for you called me. He answered, I didn't call, my son; lie down again.


He who brought the news answered, Yisra'el is fled before the Pelishtim, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people, and your two sons also, Chofni and Pinechas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.
