I am distressed for you, my brother Yonatan. You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.


A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.


A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.


Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shafan swore to them and to their men, saying, Don't be afraid to serve the Kasdim: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Bavel, and it shall be well with you.


If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known, you, nor your fathers;
