The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.


The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.


They all said to each other, *Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is on us.* So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Yonah.


They prayed, and said, *You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen


They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Mattityah, and he was numbered with the eleven emissaries.


Then said he to all Yisra'el, Be you on one side, and I and Yonatan my son will be on the other side. The people said to Sha'ul, Do what seems good to you.


Sha'ul said, Cast [lots] between me and Yonatan my son. Yonatan was taken.
