Aviner also spoke in the ears of Binyamin: and Aviner went also to speak in the ears of David in Chevron all that seemed good to Yisra'el, and to the whole house of Binyamin.


They all said to each other, *Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this evil is on us.* So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Yonah.


Of Binyamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him. He covers him all the day long. He dwells between his shoulders.


but you have this day rejected your God, who himself saves you out of all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said to him, [No], but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.


He brought the tribe of Binyamin near by their families; and the family of the Matri was taken; and Sha'ul the son of Kish was taken: but when they sought him, he could not be found.


Sha'ul said, Draw near here, all you chiefs of the people; and know and see in which this sin has been this day.


Therefore Sha'ul said to the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, Show the right. Yonatan and Sha'ul were taken [by lot]; but the people escaped.
