So they sought for a beautiful young lady throughout all the borders of Yisra'el, and found Avishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
Then Adoniyahu the son of Chaggit exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
He said, *Please speak to Shlomo the king (for he will not tell you 'no'), that he give me Avishag the Shunammite as wife.*
She said, Let Avishag the Shunammite be given to Adoniyahu your brother as wife.
