To Shem, the father of all the children of `Ever, the elder brother of Yefet, to him also were children born.
This is the history of the generations of Shem. Shem was one hundred years old and became the father of Arpakhshad two years after the flood.
It happened in the days of Amrafel, king of Shin`ar, Aryokh, king of Ellasar, Kedorla`omer, king of `Elam, and Tid`al, king of Goyim,
Arpakhshad became the father of Shelach, and Shelach became the father of `Ever.
then they drew near to Zerubbavel, and to the heads of fathers' [houses], and said to them, Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as you do; and we sacrifice to him since the days of Esar-Chaddon king of Ashur, who brought us up here.
Ashur also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.
It will happen in that day that the Lord will set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant that is left of his people from Ashur, from Egypt, from Patros, from Kush, from `Elam, from Shin`ar, from Chamat, and from the islands of the sea.
