Tobit 10:7 - Good News Translation (US Version)

But she replied, “Be quiet and leave me alone! Don't try to fool me. My son is dead.” Each day she would rush out of the house to the road which Tobias had taken and would watch for him until sunset. She would let no one comfort her, and when she returned home she would weep and mourn for her son all night long, without sleeping. The two-week wedding feast which Raguel had promised to hold for his daughter Sarah came to an end. So Tobias went to him and asked, “Please let me go home now. I'm certain my parents have given up all hope of ever seeing me again. Please, Raguel, let me go home to my father. I have already told you the condition he was in when I left.”

“You be quiet!” she would say. “Don’t lie to me! My son has perished.” Daily she hurried out to scan the road on which her son had gone and she wouldn’t be persuaded by anyone. When the sun set, she would come inside, mourning and weeping the whole night without sleeping. When the fourteen days of the wedding feast were finished, which Raguel had sworn to celebrate for his daughter, Tobias came to him and said, “Send me off, for I know that my father and my mother don’t believe they will ever see me again. So now, father, I ask you to send me off to go to my father. I have already let you know how I left him.”

Yet she was by no means able to be consoled. But, leaping up every day, she looked all round, and traveled around all the ways, by which there seemed any hope that he might return, so that she might possibly see him coming from afar.

But she could by no means be comforted: but daily running out looked round about, and went into all the ways by which there seemed any hope he might return; that she might if possible see him coming afar off.

And she said to him, “Hold your peace. Don’t deceive me. My child has perished.” And she went out every day into the way by which they went, and ate no bread in the day-time, and didn’t stop bewailing her son Tobias for whole nights, until the fourteen days of the wedding feast were expired, which Raguel had sworn that he should spend there. Then Tobias said to Raguel, “Send me away, for my father and my mother look no more to see me.”

“You're the one who should stop talking!” she answered. “Don't try to hide the truth from me. I know my son is dead.” Each morning Anna hurried out and started watching the road, hoping to see our son, and no one could change her mind. Then at sunset, she would come back inside and weep bitterly all night long, without getting a wink of sleep. Raguel had promised his daughter a wedding celebration of 14 days. And at the end of those two weeks, Tobias went to him and said, “Soon after I arrived here, I told you my father was in bad health. I am sure that by now, both he and my mother must think I am dead and that they will never see me again. So please let me return home.”
