The price to save someone’s life is too high— wealth will never be enough—
I will not reprove you for your sacrifices. Moreover, your holocausts are ever in my sight.
I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight.
Or, ‘Deliver me from the adversary’s hand’? Or, ‘Redeem me from the hand of the ruthless’?
Lord, where is your steadfast love of old, which by your faithfulness you swore to David?
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
