or darkness, so that you cannot see, and a flood of water covers you.


Stretch out your hand from on high; rescue me and deliver me from the many waters, from the hand of foreigners,


The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of destruction assailed me;


the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me.


Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him.


Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me.


By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life.


Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me.


I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me.


Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong; like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, like a storm of mighty, overflowing waters, he casts down to the earth with his hand.
