And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;


But David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should this day be as an adversary to me? Shall anyone be put to death in Israel this day? For do I not know that I am this day king over Israel?”


Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel.


And he will become a sanctuary and a stone of offense and a rock of stumbling to both houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.


And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.”


“Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the temptation comes!


Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”


But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”


And Jesus answered him, “It is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.’”


Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.”


Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.


It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.


Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.


Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
