It is time for the Lord to act, for your law has been broken.


My zeal consumes me, because my foes forget your words.


“How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us’? But behold, the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie.


My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.


But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,”


You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:


thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”


Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.


If any believing woman has relatives who are widows, let her care for them. Let the church not be burdened, so that it may care for those who are truly widows.


But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
