And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes.


The roar of the lion, the voice of the fierce lion, the teeth of the young lions are broken.


For I eat ashes like bread and mingle tears with my drink,


Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.


O God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord!


Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, but afterward his mouth will be full of gravel.


O daughter of my people, put on sackcloth, and roll in ashes; make mourning as for an only son, most bitter lamentation, for suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.
