Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go forth, O God, with our armies.


The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.


but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.


“When one of this people, or a prophet or a priest asks you, ‘What is the burden of the Lord?’ you shall say to them, ‘You are the burden, and I will cast you off, declares the Lord.’


Be warned, O Jerusalem, lest I turn from you in disgust, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.”

But you, keep yourselves from the things devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted them you take any of the devoted things and make the camp of Israel a thing for destruction and bring trouble upon it.


And she said, “The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said, “I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him.


So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he gave them over to plunderers, who plundered them. And he sold them into the hand of their surrounding enemies, so that they could no longer withstand their enemies.


As soon as the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the people of Israel, the people lifted up their voices and wept.
