The arrogant have hidden a trap for me, and with cords they have spread a net; beside the way they have set snares for me. Selah


For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.


And it shall come to pass that as I have watched over them to pluck up and break down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring harm, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, declares the Lord.


Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.


Does a lion roar in the forest, when he has no prey? Does a young lion cry out from his den, if he has taken nothing?


Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it?
