Leviticus 25:5 - Easy To Read Version

“This will be the sign to prove I will help you: This year you will eat {the grain} that grows by itself. Next year you will eat the grain that comes up from that seed. But in the third year you will gather the grain from the seeds that you planted. You will plant fields of grapes and eat the grapes from them.


\{Then the Lord said to Hezekiah,\} “I will give you a sign to show you that these words are true. \{You were not be able to plant seeds.\} So this year you will eat grain that grew wild from last year’s crop. But in three years, you will eat grain that you planted. You will harvest those crops and you will have plenty to eat. You will plant grapevines and eat their fruit.


The 50th year will be a special celebration [426] for you. Don’t plant seeds. Don’t harvest the crops that grow by themselves. Don’t gather grapes from the vines that are not trimmed.


But during the seventh year, you will let the land rest. This will be a special time of rest to honor the Lord. You must not plant seed in your field or trim the plants in your grape fields.


“{The land will have a year of rest,} but you will still have enough food. There will be enough food for your men and women servants. There will be food for your hired workers and for the foreigners living in your country.
