This is the story of why Jeroboam turned against the king. Solomon was building the Millo [146] and fixing the wall of the city of David his father.


King Solomon forced slaves to work for him to build the temple and the palace. Then King Solomon used these slaves to build many other things. He built the Millo. [124] He also built the city wall around Jerusalem. Then he built again the cities of Hazor, Megiddo, and Gezer.


Joash’s officers made plans against him. They killed Joash at the house of Millo on the road that goes down to Silla.


Then David made his home in the fortress. {\cf2\super [114]} That is why it is named the City of David. {\cf2\super [115]}


David continued to grow greater. And the Lord All-Powerful was with him.


Sanballat talked with his friends and the army at Samaria. He said, “What are these weak Jews doing? Do they think we will leave them alone? Do they think they will offer sacrifices? {\cf2\super [13]} Maybe they think they can finish building in only one day. They can’t bring stones back to life from these piles of trash and dirt.
