A gradual canticle. Blessed are all they that fear the Lord: that walk in his ways.


There is no wisdom, there is no prudence, there is no counsel against the Lord.


And from the beginning I am the same: and there is none that can deliver out of my hand. I will work, and who shall turn it away?


And Josue the son of Nun sent from Setim two men, to spy secretly: and said to them: Go, and view the land and the city of Jericho. They went and entered into the house of a woman that was a harlot named Rahab, and lodged with her.


And the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying: Bring forth the men that came to thee, and are entered into thy house: for they are spies, and are come to view all the land.


So the children of Dan sent five most valiant men of their stock and family from Saraa and Esthaol, to spy out the land, and to view it diligently. And they said to them: Go, and view the land. They went on their way, and when they came to mount Ephraim, they went into the house of Michas, and rested there.
