And let it be in readiness, against the famine of seven years to come, which shall oppress Egypt, and the land shall not consumed with scarcity.


And Achab said to Abdias: Go into the land unto all fountains of waters, and into all valleys, to see if we can find grass, and save the horses and mules, that the beasts may not utterly perish.


Who is the wise man, that may understand this, and to whom the word of the mouth of the Lord may come that he may declare this, why the land hath perished and is burnt up like a wilderness which none passeth through?


Teth. It was better with them that were slain by the sword than with them that died with hunger: for these pined away being consumed for want of the fruits of the earth.


Now there came a famine upon all Egypt and Chanaan, and great tribulation; and our fathers found no food.
