Therefore the sword shall never depart from thy house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Urias the Hethite to be thy wife.


And Joab said: Not as thou wilt, but will set upon him in thy sight. So he took three lances in his hand, and thrust them into the heart of Absalom. And whilst he yet panted for life, sticking on the oak,


And Joab sounded the trumpet, and kept back the people from pursuing after Israel in their flight, being willing to spare the multitude.


And king David sent to Sadoc and Abiathar, the priests, saying: Speak to the ancients of Juda, saying: Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house? (For the talk of all Israel was come to the king in his house.)


That the praise of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment.


An evil man always seeketh quarrels: but a cruel angel shall be sent against him.


A man that doth violence to the blood of a person, if he flee even to the pit, no man will stay him.


He that diggeth a pit, shall fall into it: and he that breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him.
