Now these are they that came to David to Siceleg, while he yet fled from Saul the son of Cis. And they were most valiant and excellent warriors,


And David arose and fled that day from the face of Saul: and came to Achis the king of Geth:


And the servants of Achis, when they saw David, said to him: Is not this David the king of the land? Did they not sing to him in their dances, saying: Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?


Then David said to his young men: Let every man gird on his sword. And they girded on every man his sword. And David also girded on his sword: and there followed David about four hundred men. And two hundred remained with the baggage.


And David consulted the Lord, saying: Shall I pursue after these robbers, and shall I overtake them, or not? And the Lord said to him: Pursue after them. For thou shalt surely overtake them and recover the prey.


So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him. And they came to the torrent Besor: and some being weary stayed there.
