And Sarai said to Abram: Thou dost unjustly with me; I gave my handmaid into thy bosom, and she, perceiving herself to be with child, despiseth me. The Lord judge between me and thee.


But the spirit came upon Amasai the chief among thirty, and he said: We are thine, O David, and for thee, O son of Isai. Peace, Peace be to thee, and peace to thy helpers. For thy God helpeth thee. So David received them, and made them captains of the band.


Behold, every one that useth a common proverb shall use this against thee, saying: As the mother was, so also is her daughter.


For from the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.


Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.


Therefore I do not trespass against thee, but thou wrongest me by declaring an unjust war against me. The Lord be judge and decide this day between Israel and the children of Ammon.
