Immediately Jesus spoke to them. ‘Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.’
‘And the King will answer them, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
‘Then he will answer them, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
The eleven disciples travelled to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them.
The angel told the women, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples, “He has risen from the dead and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see him there.” Listen, I have told you.’
Just then Jesus met them and said, ‘Greetings! ’ They came up, took hold of his feet, and worshipped him.
But go, tell his disciples and Peter, “He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see him there just as he told you.” ’
‘Don’t cling to me,’ Jesus told her, ‘since I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’
For those he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
So they got rid of the foreign gods among them and worshipped the Lord, and he became weary of Israel’s misery.
