Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, in the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, ‘Follow me,’ and he got up and followed him.
Peter began to tell him, ‘Look, we have left everything and followed you.’
Then, passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and he said to him, ‘Follow me,’ and he got up and followed him.
In the same way, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.
But he replied to his father, “Look, I have been slaving many years for you, and I have never disobeyed your orders, yet you never gave me a goat so that I could celebrate with my friends.
Then they brought the boats to land, left everything, and followed him.
For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you didn’t receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as if you hadn’t received it?
He said about his father and mother, ‘I do not regard them.’ He disregarded his brothers and didn’t acknowledge his sons, for they kept your word and maintained your covenant.
