Only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh remained alive of those men who went to scout out the land.
Joshua was now old, advanced in age, and the Lord said to him, ‘You have become old, advanced in age, but a great deal of the land remains to be possessed.
I am still as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me out. My strength for battle and for daily tasks is now as it was then.
On that day Moses swore to me, “The land where you have set foot will be an inheritance for you and your descendants for ever, because you have followed the Lord my God completely.”
