At noon Elijah mocked them. He said, ‘Shout loudly, for he’s a god! Maybe he’s thinking it over; maybe he has wandered away;  or maybe he’s on the road. Perhaps he’s sleeping and will wake up! ’


No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you!


How you have counselled the unwise and abundantly provided insight!


All of you have seen this for yourselves, why do you keep up this empty talk?


What strength do I have, that I should continue to hope? What is my future, that I should be patient?


Is my strength that of stone, or my flesh made of bronze?


Since I cannot help myself, the hope for success has been banished from me.


How painful honest words can be! But what does your rebuke prove?


Whom did he consult? Who gave him understanding and taught him the paths of justice? Who taught him knowledge and showed him the way of understanding?
