If I am proud,  you hunt me like a lion and again display your miraculous power against me.


Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?


Will you frighten a wind-driven leaf? Will you chase after dry straw?


God hands me over to the unjust; he throws me to the wicked.


If you say, ‘How will we pursue him, since the root of the problem lies with him? ’


then understand that it is God who has wronged me and caught me in his net.


But stretch out your hand and strike  his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.’


You have turned against me with cruelty; you harass  me with your strong hand.


Haven’t the members of my household said, ‘Who is there who has not had enough to eat at Job’s table? ’


I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you, “Lie down, so that we can walk over you.” You made your back like the ground, and like a street for those who walk on it.


You eat the flesh  of my people after you strip their skin from them and break their bones. You chop them up like flesh for the cooking pot, like meat in a cauldron.’
