From there Elisha went up to Bethel.  As he was walking up the path, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him,  chanting, ‘Go up, baldy! Go up, baldy! ’


My breath is offensive to my wife, and my own family  finds me repulsive.


All of my best friends  despise me, and those I love have turned against me.


But now they mock   me, men younger than I am, whose fathers I would have refused to put with my sheep dogs.


The rabble  rise up at my right; they trap  my feet and construct their siege ramp  against me.


The people will oppress one another, man against man, neighbour against neighbour; the young will act arrogantly towards the old, and the worthless towards the honourable.
