Leah said, ‘God has rewarded me for giving my slave to my husband,’ and she named him Issachar.


He saw that his resting place was good and that the land was pleasant, so he leaned his shoulder to bear a load and became a forced labourer.


From the Issacharites, who understood the times  and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their relatives under their command.


Then they approached him and said, ‘We want to build sheepfolds here for our livestock and cities for our dependents.


He said about Zebulun: Rejoice, Zebulun, in your journeys, and Issachar, in your tents.
