Put the tablets of  the testimony that I will give you into the ark.


Set the mercy seat on top of the ark and put the tablets of the testimony that I will give you into the ark.


Then Moses turned and went down the mountain with the two tablets of the testimony in his hands. They were inscribed on both sides #– #inscribed front and back.


Moses was there with the Lord for forty days and forty nights; he did not eat food or drink water. He wrote the Ten Commandments,  the words of the covenant, on the tablets.


As Moses descended from Mount Sinai #– #with the two tablets of the testimony in his hands as he descended the mountain #– #he did not realise that the skin of his face shone as a result of his speaking with the Lord.  ,


Moses took the testimony  and placed it in the ark, and attached the poles to the ark. He set the mercy seat on top of the ark.


I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets you broke, and you are to place them in the ark.”


‘So I went back down the mountain, while it was blazing with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.


Joshua also set up twelve stones in the middle  of the Jordan where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant were standing. The stones are still there today.
