Why do you crush my people and grind the faces of the poor? ’ This is the declaration of the Lord  God of Armies.


Then the company of soldiers, the commander, and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus and tied him up.


And they all  seized Sosthenes,  the leader of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal, but none of these things mattered to Gallio.


‘But I said, “Lord, they know that in synagogue after synagogue I had those who believed in you imprisoned and beaten.


When this man had been seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them, I arrived with my troops and rescued him because I learned that he is a Roman citizen.


He even tried to desecrate the temple, and so we apprehended him.


After they called in the apostles and had them flogged, they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them.
