What I am saying in this matter of boasting, I don’t speak as the Lord would, but, as it were, foolishly.

Tuilleadh leaganacha

That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.

What I say by way of this confident boasting, I say not with the Lord's authority [by inspiration] but, as it were, in pure witlessness.

That which I speak, I speak not after the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of glorying.

I’m not saying what I’m saying because the Lord tells me to. I’m saying it like I’m a fool. I’m putting my confidence in this business of bragging.

What I am saying is not said according to God, but as if in foolishness, in this matter of glorying.

That which I speak, I speak not according to God, but as it were in foolishness, in this matter of glorying.

But I (not the Lord) say to the rest: If any brother has an unbelieving wife and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her.

Now about virgins: I have no command from the Lord, but I do give an opinion as one who by the Lord’s mercy is faithful.

I say this as a concession, not as a command.

I wish you would put up with a little foolishness from me. Yes, do put up with me!

Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we, not to mention you, would be put to shame in that situation.
