The Lord of Armies says this: ‘Old men and women will again sit along the streets of Jerusalem, each with a staff in hand because of their advanced age.


Any man from your family I do not cut off from my altar will bring grief  and sadness to you. All your descendants will die violently.  ,


The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died.


‘The glory has departed from Israel,’ she said, ‘because the ark of God has been captured.’


So the people sent men to Shiloh to bring back the ark of the covenant of the Lord of Armies, who is enthroned between the cherubim.  Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.
