When he had seen them, he said, "These are the Encampments of God." And he called the name of that place Mahanaim, that is, 'Encampments.'


Then he also sent messengers before him to his brother Esau, in the land of Seir, in the region of Edom.


Then David went to the encampment, and Absalom crossed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.


Then Abner and his men went away, all that night, through the plains. And they crossed the Jordan, and having roamed throughout all of Beth-horon, they arrived in the camp.


Let your hands be strengthened, and be sons of fortitude. For even though your lord Saul has died, still the house of Judah has anointed me as king over them."


The king also said to his servants: "Could you be ignorant that a leader and a very great man has fallen today in Israel?


Then, while there was a battle between the house of Saul and the house of David, Abner, the son of Ner, was reigning over the house of Saul.


and from the sons of Benjamin, brothers of Saul, three thousand, for still a great part of them were following the house of Saul.


Then from the sons of Ephraim, there were twenty thousand eight hundred, very strong and robust men, renowned among their kindred.
