Thou hast granted me life and lovingkindness;\par\tab And thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.


Why standest thou afar off, O Jehovah?\par\tab Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?


Because of thine indignation and thy wrath:\par\tab For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.


Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled;\par\tab Thou takest away their breath, they die,\par\tab And return to their dust.


Make haste to answer me, O Jehovah; my spirit faileth:\par\tab Hide not thy face from me,\par\tab Lest I become like them that go down into the pit.


For his anger is but for a moment;\par\tab His favor is for a life-time:\par\tab Weeping may tarry for the night,\par\tab But joy {\i cometh} in the morning.


He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay;\par\tab And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.


For they gat not the land in possession by their own sword,\par\tab Neither did their own arm save them;\par\tab But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance,\par\tab Because thou wast favorable unto them.

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come upon them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?
