My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook,\par\tab As the channel of brooks that pass away;


They speak falsehood every one with his neighbor:\par\tab With flattering lip, and with a double heart, do they speak.


Jehovah will cut off all flattering lips,\par\tab The tongue that speaketh great things;


I am become a stranger unto my brethren,\par\tab And an alien unto my mother's children.


The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up,\par\tab And lose thy sweet words.


When he speaketh fair, believe him not;\par\tab For there are seven abominations in his heart:


For thus saith Jehovah unto me, As the lion and the young lion growling over his prey, if a multitude of shepherds be called forth against him, will not be dismayed at their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so will Jehovah of hosts come down to fight upon mount Zion, and upon the hill thereof.

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.


And they bend their tongue, {\i as it were} their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith Jehovah.


Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.


And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.


And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child: and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.


And they sought to lay hold on him; and they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spake the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.\par

And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent their garments off them, and commanded to beat them with rods.
