How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach?\par\tab Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?


We see not our signs:\par\tab There is no more any prophet;\par\tab Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.


How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou be angry for ever?\par\tab Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?


And your covenant with death shall be annulled, and your agreement with Sheol shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.


Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until cities be waste without inhabitant, and houses without man, and the land become utterly waste,


Thy holy people possessed {\i it} but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.


For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.


Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.


And forces shall stand on his part, and they shall profane the sanctuary, even the fortress, and shall take away the continual {\i burnt-offering}, and they shall set up the abomination that maketh desolate.


And from the time that the continual {\i burnt-offering} shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand and two hundred and ninety days.


And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?


Thus were the visions of my head upon my bed: I saw, and, behold, a tree in the midst of the earth; and the height thereof was great.

And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease; and upon the wing of abominations {\i shall come} one that maketh desolate; and even unto the full end, and that determined, shall {\i wrath} be poured out upon the desolate.\par


And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.


And ye shall flee by the valley of my mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel; yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah; and Jehovah my God shall come, and all the holy ones with thee.


All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal {\i him}.


When therefore ye see the {\b abomination of desolation,} which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place} (let him that readeth understand){\cf6 ,

of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?


To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.\par


And to these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones,


And the court which is without the temple leave without, and measure it not; for it hath been given unto the nations: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.


and they cried with a great voice, saying, How long, O Master, the holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?


And the angel of Jehovah said unto him, Wherefore askest thou after my name, seeing it is wonderful?
