Because of the oppression of the poor, because of the sighing of the needy,\par\tab Now will I arise, saith Jehovah;\par\tab I will set him in the safety he panteth for.


{\b A Song of Ascents; of David.}\par\par\tab Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty;\par\tab Neither do I exercise myself in great matters,\par\tab Or in things too wonderful for me.


For though Jehovah is high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly;\par\tab But the haughty he knoweth from afar.


I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted,\par\tab And justice for the needy.


And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.


Now I know that Jehovah is greater than all gods; yea, in the thing wherein they dealt proudly against them.

And the mean man is bowed down, and the great man is humbled, and the eyes of the lofty are humbled:


In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.\par
