Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.


To know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;


My son, hear the instruction of thy father, And forsake not the law of thy mother:


A wise son heareth his father's instruction: But a scorner heareth not rebuke.


Hear counsel, and receive instruction, That thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.


Incline thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, And apply thine heart unto my knowledge.


My son, attend unto my wisdom; Incline thine ear to my understanding:


Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; And call understanding thy kinswoman:


And we have obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;


Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things that were heard, lest haply we drift away from them.
