“How often is the lamp of the wicked put out? How often does calamity come upon them? How often does God distribute pains in his anger?


when his lamp shone over my head, and by his light I walked through darkness,


They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.


Light dawns for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart.


By insolence the empty-headed person makes strife, but wisdom is with those who take advice.


Wealth is a ransom for a person’s life, but a poor person pays no attention to a rebuke.


If you curse father or mother, your lamp will go out in utter darkness.


for the evil have no future; the lamp of the wicked will go out.


But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.


When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.


Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.”


Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’


The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
