Sacrifice and offering you do not desire, but you have given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering you have not required.


This will please the Lord more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs.


Your lamb shall be without blemish, a year-old male; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats.


What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord; I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed beasts; I do not delight in the blood of bulls or of lambs or of goats.


For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.


Seven days you shall present the Lord’s offerings by fire; on the eighth day you shall observe a holy convocation and present the Lord’s offerings by fire; it is a solemn assembly; you shall not work at your occupations.


You shall offer a burnt offering, an offering by fire, a pleasing odor to the Lord: thirteen young bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old. They shall be without blemish.


I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship.


In speaking of a new covenant, he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and growing old will soon disappear.
